Nearly 200 demonstrators and around fifty tractors blocked the lower town of Auch yesterday (Monday) Monday afternoon! Fewer standards and better incomes were at the heart of their demands, with also a rejection of the Mercosur treaty, a free trade treaty with South America. And among the demonstrators, there was Dorian. He is 26 years old and owns a farm in Touget near Gimont. He breeds Aquitaine blondes and cultivates cereals. He works more than 60 hours a week and despite that financially he is not getting by: “We have had catastrophic harvests for 2 years and the loans fall at the same deadline every year. A third would be missing to live properly. Every year our share of aid is reduced. Aid is a cover for poverty. I make -10,000 euros for this year. Last year I had a zero year, so no salaries. And if next year isn't good, I'll sell everything. I have no more cash, it's the last year, the last cartridge. The hours of work and no reward is sickening. »
