“On the run” is staged in colleges

Serge Barbuscia chose seven “snapshots” around themes that emerged following meetings across the four corners of , bringing together other complicit artists: Aïni Iften, Fabrice Lebert and Gilbert Scotti. “ In January 2024, we started workshops with residents around the question: what is sport in our lives? The people participating in these workshops responded on stage by integrating writing of texts, stories, slam, rap, songs, music, dance, testimonies and anecdotes », specifies Serge Barbuscia. With this inspiration, he wrote a play with themes that gradually broadened: loneliness, social networks, reality, anger, harassment, freedom…

« What also strongly motivated me was the possibility of bringing theater directly into the classroom.adds the director. This theatrical proposal takes place in the classroom, our idea is to put the students in the condition of “spectactors”. We wanted to introduce them to the art of live performance but also to make them think, to question themselves… And also to give hope to a youth who sometimes seems a little desperate to me, in search of guidance ».

A dialogue with the students

Each class will select three sketches out of the seven written by the director: 30 minutes of show followed by a time of dialogue with the actress, Camille Carraz, and Serge Barbuscia. For now, rehearsals are continuing, while waiting for the first performances next January, in establishments in Avignon. “ La Salle College will have the honor of being among the first to host the play and we hope to perform it in around twenty establishments..

An artistic and civic approach supported by the Department, which has granted, for the year 2024, a subsidy of €24,000 to the Théâtre du Balcon for all of its programming.
