Leaving this Sunday from the village of Syam, where his parents live, Olivier spent his first night in Planches-en-Montagne, in the tent “at the foot of Paradise”, then a second in an old customs officers' cabin near Lac des Mortes. . Progress met him this Tuesday, November 12 in La Cure, where he was stopping after crossing the Risoux forest. “This trip should allow me to go in search of myself,” he confided with a smile full of serenity.
A journey outside of high attendance
The choice of winter to begin his journey is not insignificant: in this season, he hopes to avoid the crowds which, in other periods, populate the pilgrimage routes. Following the Valserine valley, it will soon reach Seyssel to take the Chemin de Compostela which descends from Lake Constance and leads to Puy-en-Velay, crossing Bugey and Vienne. This route will then take it through the emblematic places of Conques, Rocamadour and Roncesvaux, before reaching Santiago de Compostela, the first kilometers of which were under construction, then continuing to the legendary Cap Finisterre, at the tip of Spain.
In search of yourself
For Olivier, this journey is not limited to a physical challenge, but is similar to a spiritual and personal quest. Today he takes time to explore inner horizons, far from routine and daily constraints. This six-month break is an opportunity to reconnect with oneself, to discover landscapes but above all to explore the interior landscapes of a life. The courage and determination of this solitary walker already impresses those who cross his path. And there is no doubt that, throughout these thousands of kilometers, the encounters, challenges and discoveries will transform him well beyond the planned return, in six months.
