Diamniadio, Nov 19 (APS) – Senegal, first in Group L, shone in the qualifiers for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN) by collecting 16 points, with 10 goals scored and only one conceded, in short a participation as fruitful as the last four qualifying campaigns for the African competition.
Since the CAN 2017 qualifiers, Senegal has taken first place in its group. In 2019, 2021 and 2023, the Lions dominated their group.
For the CAN 2025 qualifiers, the Senegalese were no exception to the rule. They are first in group L with 16 points, 10 goals scored and only one goal conceded. They are ahead of Burkina Faso (10 points), Burundi (4 points) and Malawi (4 points).
The Lions of Senegal completed the CAN 2017 qualifications by winning all six matches. They had obtained 18 points, with 13 goals scored and two goals conceded, ahead of Burundi (7 points), Namibia (6 points) and Niger (4 points).
In the 2019 qualifiers, Senegal was first in Group A with 16 points, 12 goals scored and 2 goals conceded. He had dominated Madagascar (10 points), Equatorial Guinea (6 points) and Sudan (3 points).
In the 2021 qualifiers, Senegal is still first in Group I with 14 points, 10 goals scored and two conceded, ahead of Guinea-Bissau (9 points), Congo (8 points) and Eswatini (2 points).
The Lions of Senegal also obtained first place in Group L of the CAN 2023 qualifiers with 14 points, 12 goals scored and four taken, ahead of Mozambique (10 points), Benin (5 points) and Rwanda (3 points). ).
