On Monday November 25, the international day for the eradication of violence against women, the services of the Landes department are organizing a day of discussions on violence in romantic relationships among young people. It will take place in Luxey, Salle des Cigales, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Insult, jealousy, control…

Bérengère Kramrich from the Landes Women's and Family Rights Information Center (CIDFF40) draws up an alarming observation of the violence that young women suffer in their relationships: “among the people we receive, 39% of women have less of 26 years old and very often they do not consider what they experienced as violence.” She specifies that these behaviors range from insults, jealousy, control, harassment and many other things. “What seemed extremely violent to us twenty years ago, for young people it is everyday life,” she says.

In a press release, the elected officials of the department are convinced “that the fight against violence against women requires concerted action with those in the field and a tight network of the territory”. They recall that the appeal sounded in 2022 “For a Landes society without violence against women”, was signed by 84 Landes municipalities, or nearly 225,500 inhabitants.

Actions the rest of the year

The rest of the year, actions are put in place, such as training and awareness raising for the general public, reminds the Department, but also for elected officials and professionals welcoming the public. Middle and high school students and students under the age of 25 in specialized establishments are also made aware, as is the identification and support of victims of violence or the strengthening of resources for emergency accommodation.

• 2:25 p.m.: Restitution of the departmental system to combat sexism, led by Les Francas des Landes, in the presence of students from Lubet Barbon college in Saint-Pierre-du-Mont
• 2:50 p.m.: Concert by Almä Mango (rap with pop influences)
