Its facilities, including laboratories and library, will be prohibited from access. Classes will also be canceled.

In a notice sent to its community on Tuesday, the establishment explained that it had received “numerous emails and calls” from members fearing excesses on campus that day.

On Thursday, Dawson CEGEP students will hold a day of strike in solidarity with Palestine, like thousands of students across the country. Picket lines may take place.

“Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of all our students,” continues the notice, which recalls that any act of harassment must be reported.

On social networks, the Advisory Center for Jewish and Israeli Relations and the Federation CJA denounced the decision to close the campus.

They criticize the establishment for “capitulating to the extremist voices of an aggressive and noisy minority”. “Students have the right to attend classes, engage in free academic discourse, and pursue their academic passions,” they emphasize.

According to the Resistance Coalition for Student Union Unity, more than 45,000 Quebec students will be on strike Thursday and Friday for Palestine. Demonstrations are planned in Montreal, but also elsewhere in the country.
