As part of the government plan for 15,000 additional prison places, a penitentiary center project called “Angers Les Landes” is planned in the municipality of Loire-Authion and will accommodate 850 detainees (instead of 400 prisoners currently in the remand center Angers). Its delivery is scheduled for end of 2027.

The investigating commissioner submits his report

After examination of the file by State services and consultation of local authorities, the public inquiry was held from September 10 to October 11, 2024 and was carried out by a commission made up of three investigating commissioners appointed by the administrative court of Nantes.

During the public inquiry, 363 contributions have been filed.

The commission of inquiry submitted its report and conclusions following consultation with the public and all stakeholders. A favorable opinion was given on the declaration of public utility (DUP)the compatibility of town planning documents (PLUI and SCOT), as well as the parcel status.

The report and conclusions of the commission of inquiry can be consulted on the website of the state services in the department.

It is expected that the decision of the prefect relating to the DUP relating to the compatibility of town planning documents will be taken at the beginning of 2025.
