“Increasing taxes would be a major mistake” storms the Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur

Representatives of small and medium-sized businesses in the South call on the government not to worsen their situation by further increasing taxes. Projects for various and varied increases follow one another.

“One day, it’s an increase in the mobility payment, the next day, an increase in notary fees…” While the government is looking everywhere for new resources to close its budgets, the Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is worried about the wrong signals being sent.

Alain Gargani, president of CPME Sud and candidate for national presidency of the organizationsounds the alarm: “Increasing taxation in a fragile economic context would be a major error. VSE-SMEs, creators of wealth and jobs, are already subject to excessive tax pressure which is hampering their growth. It is urgent to act to simplify, reduce and restore the confidence of entrepreneurs.”

“VSEs and SMEs are the true creators of our real economy. Entrepreneurs only need to be allowed to do what they do best: create work and wealth!”

“Any additional burden would only stifle their capacity to invest and create jobs!”

So, in this context, “CPME Sud calls for the abandonment of the government project to increase labor costs and the maintenance of current reductions in charges. To persist without taking into account the economic deterioration would be incomprehensible.”

“The urgency is to restore the confidence of business leaders by freeing the economy, simplifying their daily administrative life and reducing labor costs.”

In the Alpes-Maritimes, the president of the metropolis Christian Estrosi (Horizons), although champion of a “pro-business policy” has been calling for an increase in the mobility payment for years, which companies with more than 10 employees must pay, to deliver tram lines 4 and 5 (towards Cagnes-sur-Mer and Drap) more quickly.

His great rival, the UDR deputy Eric Ciotti, is on a roll: “this new tax (an increase, rather, editor's note) would seriously penalize our businesses and our jobs, already weakened by excessive taxation. The people of Nice and the French can't take it anymore!”
