A man was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention after the discovery at his home in Aulnoye-Aymeries, near Maubeuge (North), of the body of his 30-year-old companion, the Valenciennes prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday, confirming a information from The Voice of the North.
The police noted the death of this man on November 5 when his partner called for help.
The first investigations carried out by investigators from the urban security service of the Maubeuge police station led “to conclude that the death was the result of the intervention of a third party”, added the prosecution.
According to The Voice of the Norththe police had already gone to the two men's home following an argument the previous week.
Placed in pre-trial detention
The man at whose home the body was discovered was taken into police custody on November 12. He declared that he had “maintained an intimate relationship with the victim for several months” and contested “any act of violence against his person, suggesting suicide or an accident that could have led to death”.
At the end of police custody, “the alleged perpetrator, who has no criminal record”, was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.
A judicial investigation was opened on the charge of “intentional homicide by a spouse, common-law partner, or partner bound by a civil pact,” said the prosecution.
