“The very good results of previous elections, whether legislative or European, clearly show the anchor we have in Seine-et-Marne “. With these words, Julie Garnier, regional advisor and departmental referent for La France insoumise (LFI 77) sets the scene. Sunday November 3, 2024activists from Jean-Luc Mélenchon's movement met in Fontenay-Trésigny to discuss their next objective: the municipal elections of 2026.
Around twenty municipalities
“The result of the legislative elections was not achieved in practice, with the appointment of the Barnier government. This is why we stand ready to lead the fight more locally,” continues the LFI elected official.
The movement mainly targets “around twenty municipalities” in the department, including Montereau-Fault-Yonne, Chelles, Nemours, Meaux or even the prefecture of Seine-et-Marne, Melunall in the hands of the right and its allies. “These are places where we achieved very good scores in the last ballots, lists Julie Garnier. In addition, we have a network of local activists who can mobilize in the context of future deadlines.”
Other municipalities, such as Pontault-Combault, Moissy-Cramayel or even Vaux-le-Pénilare in the sights of the Insoumis. Cities nevertheless administered by teams belonging to components of the left. “It remains to be proven that they really apply left-wing policies,” breathes the elected official.
The values of the New Popular Front
For these elections, LFI affirms that it “will continue to support the program of the New Popular Front (NFP)came in first position” in the legislative elections last July. “Our goal is not to design lists bringing together only LFI supporters. We call on all components of the left who wish to do so to come together around the principles of the NFP,” concludes Julie Garnier, who assures that the pattern will be the same in the event of new early legislative elections.
