The sea is rising, the coastline is receding and man, sooner or later, will also have to retreat by abandoning low-lying coastal areas. As part of its pilot project “Between two harbours”, which aims to anticipate and support the recomposition of the coastline, the Coutances mer et bocage community of communes is organizing the Monday December 2, 2024in Montmartin-sur-Mer, a debate evening on the issues and risks linked to climate change on the west coast of the English Channel.

Inform and raise awareness among the general public

“Side by side – Acting together for the coast” aims toinformer and of to raise awareness the general public to coastal risks.

“This evening will address essential questions around the resilience of the coastline, the prevention of the floods and land use planning. Between theater and debate, this is a meeting to better understand the issues facing the region and to consider solutions durables », Announces the community.

This evening will be held at the Espace culturelle de Montmartin-sur-Mer. It will take place in two stages. From 7 p.m., the public will be invited to discover an exhibition show, followed at 8:30 p.m. by a conference with experts and local elected officials and a time for discussion on the resilience of coastal territories and the challenges of development.
