With the arrival of winter, the safety on the roads becomes an absolute priority in Côte-d'Or. For the 2024-2025 season, the Departmental Council is strengthening its winter viability system: a network of 25 cameras deployed is available to residents to monitor traffic conditions in real time. An essential innovation to guarantee the fluidity of movement et prevent risks linked to the snow and ice.

A strategic tool serving users

These cameras are installed at strategic points and allow you to observe the state of the 5,710 kilometers of departmental roads. Thanks to this equipment, the Departmental Council's on-call teams can react quickly in the event of bad weather, by adapting emergency interventions. snow removal or from salting.

For this season, two new cameras have been added on particularly sensitive routes: in Mesmont, near Sombernon, and in Civry-en-Montagne, near Pouilly-en-Auxois. .

Inforoute21.fr: real-time access for users

The images captured by these cameras are integrated into the Inforoute21.fr site, the platform dedicated to traffic conditions in Côte-d'Or. Motorists can therefore consult in real time road conditions, possible closures and diversions put in place. This tool also allows you to report risk areasso that drivers can adapt their journey.

The winter system in Côte-d'Or, some figures

10 days of snow and 20 days of ice are recorded on average in Côte-d'Or.
109: this is the number of departmental agents on call each week, reinforced by 23 private companies and 55 approved farmers, in order to facilitate the travel of motorists.
5,710: this is the number of kilometers of roads managed by the Department.

In the event of snow or ice, the winter service system is organized according to three levels of services:
– the main roads will be cleared of snow and/or ice as a priority 7 days a week and 24 hours a day,
– the intermediate network will be cleared of snow and/or ice during the day, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.,
– the secondary network will be cleared of snow during the day, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
