FC Martigues will play its home matches at the Vélodrome stadium next season

Without a stadium approved for Ligue 2, the club goes before the DNCG this Wednesday, June 26. Only one option is presented: playing the home matches at the Orange Vélodrome.

FC Martigues, new resident of Ligue 2, will play its home matches at the Orange Vélodrome, home of Olympique de Marseille, BFM Marseille Provence learned from a source close to the club.

The club will appear before the DNCG (National Directorate of Management Control) committee this Wednesday, June 26. Second in National last year, the club was promoted this season for the first time in more than 20 years to the second tier of French professional football.

More approved infrastructures

They played the entire season at the Turcan stadium, created in 1965. They experienced rises in D2 there then good years in D1, notably in the 90s. But since 1974 and their first promotion to the second division, the infrastructures have not been now no longer approved for Ligue 2.

Reason why the club is looking for a new base. Before the DNCG, only one option is put on the table: that of the Orange Vélodrome. FC Martigues will therefore play half of its matches in Marseille, while waiting for the renovation work on their enclosure to be completed.

The project should be completed by the end of 2024, so the Martegaux should really be able to play the second part of the season at home.
