Shock in Grez-Doiceau: a police officer attacked with a machete opens fire on the madman, “an investigation entrusted to committee P”

A call to the 101 service reported the presence of a very agitated and threatening person in the building.

Arriving on the scene, the police heard screams coming from the home. They noticed signs of violence there, including traces of punches in a door, overturned furniture and even debris on the ground.

In the converted cellar, the responders were confronted with a man born in 1980 and living at the address.

Very angry, the individual made threatening remarks. Despite attempts to calm him down, the suspect threatened the police with a machete.

Ignoring the orders given to him, the armed man hit the walls of the cellar several times before heading towards a police officer.

The threatened agent used his service weapon, hitting the attacker in the shoulder.

The police arrested him shortly after 8:45 p.m.

Injured, the forty-year-old was taken to hospital.

The duty magistrate of the Walloon Brabant public prosecutor’s office went to the site, with a ballistics expert and the scientific police laboratory.

“Following the usual procedure, the police shooting will give rise to an investigation entrusted to Committee P”said the prosecutor.

The designated investigating judge received a request for an arrest warrant for acts described as attempted murder of a police officer.
