Almost everywhere in France, part of the agricultural world began to mobilize on Monday, November 18, on the roads and in front of the prefectures. In Nièvre, anger will be expressed on Wednesday, at the initiative of the FDSEA and Young Farmers. Seven roadblocks, with diversions, are announced.
Filter barriers, fires of anger or demonstrations in front of prefectures: 85 demonstration points were observed throughout France, Monday November 18. The kick-off of a vast mobilization of part of the agricultural world, to protest against the European Union's proposed free trade agreement with the Mercosur countries, and more generally to denounce working conditions and life of farmers, insufficient income and administrative burden, against a backdrop of poor harvest and recurrent animal diseases.
Relive Monday's agricultural mobilization in France
In Nièvre, the anger is very real, but it will not be expressed until Wednesday November 20. Apart from a spontaneous action in Saint-Pierre-le-Moûtier, there was no demonstration on Monday.
Farmers carry out a first action in Saint-Pierre-le-Moûtier
“We talked about it among ourselves on Friday but it was impossible to mount large-scale actions so quickly,” explains Benjamin Mailault, co-president of Jeunes Agriculteurs 58. “We cannot leave our animals and our farms overnight. »
Do not block France but slow it down
The additional delay is also explained by the desire of the JA and the FDSEA (the main agricultural union in France and Nièvre) to prepare this mobilization according to the rules of the art. “We declared the various demonstrations in the prefecture,” explains Emmanuel Bernard, president of the FDSEA of Nièvre.
There will be seven blocking points in the department on Wednesday from 8 a.m.
- Two near Nevers: at the crossroads of the D978, towards Forges and in Challuy.
- One at Druy-Parigny, road of Dardault, near Decize,
- Château-Chinon, Arleuf roundabout,
- Luzy, on the D981 at the entrance to the town,
- La Charité-sur-Loire (interchange 29 on the RN 151),
- Clamecy, Pousseux roundabout.
“We are going to organize diversions,” specifies Benjamin Mailault.
The goal is not to block France but to slow it down. Nivernais motorists will be able to get to their destination via another route. For road transport, it will be more complicated.
General exasperation
Busy with its national congress which is taking place in Poitiers until the weekend, Rural Coordination 58, which distinguished itself last week by covering radars, has not yet announced any other actions. “But we are going to have difficulty holding on to our troops as the exasperation is so general,” warns Lydie Deneuville, president of the Rural Coordination in Nièvre. “There has been no improvement since last year. The State is now offering us loans to repay our debts. »
The Peasant Confederation, for its part, has not planned any demonstrations in the department.
