The heat does not disarm. This Tuesday, November 19, expected temperatures remain 2 to 3°C above seasonal norms. The sun shines brightly from the early hours of the day. The rare clouds that circulate along the sides of the volcano are not enough to limit the rise in mercury (31°C). Clouds and some showers are forecast over the upper reaches of the North West this afternoon.
The sun is shining brightly this Tuesday morning. A few passing clouds circulate over the southern and eastern foothills of the volcano. Before midday, cumulus clouds settle on the western heights between Saint-Leu and La Possession.
This grayish cover becomes denser and brings small showers along the slopes. They will not be enough to reduce the already summer heat which reigns on the coast.
This afternoon there will be more clouds, but “the cirques, the highest peaks as well as the southern and northern coastlines keep beautiful clearings all day long”specifies Météo-France La Réunion.
The southeast flow remains moderate. Gusts of 60 km/h are expected between Pointe-de-la-Table and Pointe-au-Sel, they should not exceed 50 km/h in the North-East and the ridges exposed to the wind. A regime of breezes reigns over the West this morning, “but a southerly wind rises on the beaches in the afternoon with peaks of between 50 and 60 km/h”, specify the forecasters from the Chaudron station.
As the editors of the weather bulletin point out, the temperatures on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, remain high. They vary from 29 to 31°C on the coast, 24 to 28 in the cirques and from 22 to 23°C, respectively, at Maïdo and Pas de Bellecombe-Jacob.
The sea is not very rough in the West. “It is choppy elsewhere, and even strong, along the wild South in the presence of a trade wind swell of around 2 meters”conclude the meteorologists.
