A couple stranded by snow rescued between Tinghir and Azilal

Moroccan citizen Rachid Harchaoui and his German wife, missing since last Friday during a mountain excursion, were found safe and sound this Monday. Their adventure, blocked by exceptional snowfall in a difficult-to-access region between the provinces of Tinghir and Azilal, finally ended in the spotlight of a spectacular rescue operation.

The couple had ventured between Amsouzart and Zaouiat Ahansal, an area known for its breathtaking landscapes but also for its rugged terrain and natural challenges. Their prolonged absence triggered an immediate alert, pushing the Moroccan authorities to react without delay. Rescue teams, friends and relatives united to find the missing, in particularly hostile climatic conditions.

Faced with the urgency of the situation, the Royal Gendarmerie mobilized a helicopter which played a decisive role in this rescue operation. The searches, carried out in extreme conditions mixing snow and rain, made it possible to locate the couple, who were then transported to the town of Azilal for medical examinations.

According to local sources, the authorities of the provinces of Tinghir and Azilal, in consultation with the Ministry of the Interior, coordinated their efforts to maximize the chances of finding the missing. Under the direct supervision of the provincial governor, significant human and logistical resources have been mobilized.

This incident once again highlights the importance of caution when traveling in mountainous areas, particularly during periods of unfavorable weather conditions. It is essential to find out about climate forecasts, equip yourself adequately and report your movements before venturing into such demanding environments.
