Supported by the Grand Est regional council, the bioeconomy will receive its showcase in Pomacle near Reims (Marne). The regional authority will install the new European Center for Biotechnology and Bioeconomy (CEBB), near the current premises in 2015, which has already become too small to house the 95 researchers and related activities such as hosting start-ups. The future building, representing an investment of €18 million all expenses combined, will double the surface area, to 5,876 m2 SP. The project management competition was won this summer by the AEA Architectes agency associated with BET Pingat Ingénierie, Alpha Process, Venathec and Acte 2 Paysage. The studies in progress should allow a launch before the summer of 2025 of calls for tenders for works (€12.5 million excluding VAT forecast) for completion of the project hoped for in spring 2027.
Major, the new CEBB must also be important for the regional council from the point of view of its environmental ambition: the project owner is aiming for Passivhaus labeling for it. “The challenge consists of articulating this objective with an approach centered primarily on process requirements, namely arranging laboratories according to their different requirements and an order of implementation pre-established by the users,” underlines René-Pierre Ortiz, partner manager of AEA. The future building will combine a concrete post-beam structure with a wooden frame facade. “The straw filling of the wood insulation (44 cm thick) provides a bio-sourced solution consistent with the site's vocation of working with natural co-products,” continues Matthieu Ortiz, project manager at AEA. Geothermal heating, photovoltaic panels and triple glazing will contribute to energy performance.
First at the construction high school. This “Passivhaus” will be the second for the region, after the new boilermaking training workshop at the Gustave-Eiffel building trades high school in Cernay (Haut-Rhin), an equipment that consumes energy in itself. It must be delivered for the start of the 2025 school year. The project is being carried out according to an overall performance contract of €11.2 million including tax entrusted to Demathieu Bard (DB) Construction associated with Rey-de Crécy (architects), OTE, Otelio and DB Maintenance .
