This Tuesday, November 19, the inhabitants of Val-de-Travers will have to raise their eyes to the sky and be patient. From 8 a.m., a helicopter from the Swiss Helicopter company (registered HB-ZZX) will make 87 rotations to install the contact line masts along the railway line between Couvet and the Marais. This work, scheduled to last approximately five hours, risks disrupting the usual tranquility of our valley.

Work necessary to modernize the rail

These operations, which could be postponed until Friday November 22 in the event of bad weather, are part of a vast construction project. modernization of the Buttes-Travers railway line. Since July 8, trains have given way to machines to allow:

  • The construction of the new Couvet station,
  • The repair of the track between Couvet and Môtiers,
  • Raising the platforms of Môtiers station.

This major project, which will last until April 27, 2025, also includes work carried out by the CFF at Auvernier station.

A lively sky, but for a good cause

With 87 round trips plannedthe helicopter will be clearly visible (and audible!) in the surrounding area.

These occasional nuisances are the price to pay for a modernized rail network, ultimately offering greater comfort and reliability for users.
