Anger of farmers: the Foix tunnel blocked this Monday evening by tractors, the Ariège prefecture sets up diversions

In Ariège, an operation is also organized by the departmental federation (FDSEA) and the JA 09 and it will mainly target the Foix tunnel, on the RN20. Two convoys will set off on either side of the tunnel, from the Super U roundabout in Verniolle (7 p.m.) and the Charmille roundabout in Saint-Paul-de-Jarrat (7:30 p.m.). The two will walk to the tunnel and block it in the evening.

In fact, the Ariège prefecture and the police have organized the diversions resulting from this blocking of one of the main traffic routes in the department. The tunnel will be closed from 7 p.m. this Monday evening until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. Traffic will be diverted through the city center of Foix, on the RD117 and the RD919.

Furthermore, significant slowdowns are expected upstream and downstream of convoys on the RN20 around 7 p.m., between interchange 7 (roundabout in the South Delta zone of Verniolle) and the exit towards Foix (interchange 10), but also from the Charmille roundabout (interchange 12) to the exit towards the Peysales roundabout (interchange 11) due to the presence of tractors on the road.

“It is recommended that road users anticipate their trips and exercise caution,” concludes the prefecture.
