Collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a car
The accident was caused by a truck driver and a motorist, who were not injured. The fire is believed to be due to the spread of hydrocarbons on the roadway. According to the first elements of the investigation, the heavy goods vehicle hit a broken down car on the emergency lane. Once on its side, the vehicle's tank then caught fire.
Fifty firefighters were mobilized to the scene to fight the flames and rescue the drivers. No casualties were reported despite the scale of the accident. The driver of the car had gotten out of his vehicle to make a call, at a terminal provided for this purpose, at the time of the collision. The rapid intervention of the emergency services made it possible to control a situation which appeared to be chaotic, but traffic was still blocked until 4 p.m.
