The town of Labastide-Beauvoir will have a new mayor in a few days. This Sunday, November 17, 2024, André Durandwho had held this position since 2020, saw his list being far ahead of that led by Serge Pina during the municipal elections organized to provide the village with a new municipal council. A vote which was precipitated by the vacancy of a third of the seats in the outgoing assembly.

With 401 votesthe “Together for a new momentum” list collects 64,06 % votes cast and therefore marks a clear victory. She won 13 of the 15 seats which were at stake, at the end of an electoral deadline for which the participation rate is around 63%.

Here is the composition of the new municipal council

The new municipal majority is therefore made up of the following 13 elected officials:

  • Serge Pina
  • Melanie Ouchene
  • Eric Fleurit
  • Estelle Fauré
  • Patrick Calastrenc
  • Séverine Marty
  • David Hinh-Thai

The results

Voters: 643.
Blank votes: 6.
Invalid votes: 11.
Votes cast: 626.
List led by Serge Pina: 401 votes (64.06%).
List led by André Durand: 225 votes (35.94%).

A laborious counting

Note that despite the large difference in votes between the two lists, the counting turned out to be particularly laborious. At the end of a first count, Serge Pina's list initially received 403 votes against 225 votes for that of André Durand. But a blur appeared around two ballots. And it was therefore decided to carry out a recount in case this could have an impact on the number of seats allocated to each list.

At the end of this second count and to everyone's surprise, Serge Pina's list only had 391 votes. And ten ballots had disappeared! Before they were finally found after a few minutes on a corner of the table, all being in the name of the list of the future mayor of the town. “We’re in a school, isn’t there a teacher to help them count? »a resident while watching the counting joked with humor.

The reactions

Once the results were announced, André Durand said a few words: “I wish your list good luck. I believe that our team has nothing to be ashamed of what it has done for the town. But the residents spoke and expressed their choice. That’s what democracy is! I would still like to thank the members of my list for this blitzkrieg that we carried out and which allowed us to forge links between us which, I believe, will remain. »

Serge Pina also took the microphone to firstly congratulate himself on the participation rate recorded during this election, then express his state of mind after the success of his team. “I know that it is not easy for anyone, in this period, to take on this position of elected official. We know that subsidies will be reduced given the context and that funds risk running out. But there are actions that can be taken without costing the municipality money, such as work on the medical offer», he told the audience, evoking in particular discussions already launched for host a pharmacy.

I hope that we will do a good job and above all that we will not disappoint you. Know that we heard you during this campaign and that we will respond to everything. We won't be able to do everything, but we are committed to telling you “yes” or “no”, explaining why each time. And then we will learn to know each other and above all to appreciate each other.

Serge Pina
