As South America becomes a highly sought-after destination, TRAVELSAVERS Canada member agencies discovered its culture and tourist sites during their recent Elite retreat. The agency owners sailed from Rio de Janeiro to Montevideo from October 27 to November 3 aboard an Atlas World Navigator charter boat in recognition of their business success.
The cruise highlighted some of Brazil and Uruguay’s top destinations at a time when traveler interest in South America is growing. The continent’s tourism market is worth $320 billion and is expected to grow 40% annually until 2032, according to Future Market Insights. Additionally, ocean cruising continues its continued popularity among TRAVELSAVERS Canada affiliated agency customers, with sales up 14% from 2023. A TRAVELSAVERS Canada survey found that two of the top trends for 2024 are off-the-beaten-track trips to exotic destinations and authentic journeys.
As culinary trips become increasingly popular as a way to sample the flavors of a destination, advisors mingled on board with a special guest: Brazil native Luciana Berry, a former winner of Top Chef. Berry led food tastings and cooking demonstrations that brought to life the exotic flavors and ingredients of Brazilian cuisine with a creative twist.
TRAVELSAVERS Canada chartered the small yacht exclusively for the event, which was the ideal location to create essential connections between advisors and preferred partners. In 1:1 meetings, advisors learned about the latest product developments and trends from suppliers. The itinerary also offered numerous informal networking opportunities, including tours, hands-on experiences and parties, which included a tropical Carnival-themed barbecue party by the pool.
