This mother of Saint-Pierre-de-Bailleulbetween Gaillon and Vernon (Eure), had “the fear of his life”, Tuesday November 5, 2024shortly before 1:30 p.m.
While she was taking her 4 year old son, and had her 2 and a half year old daughter on board, to the school located in the neighboring town of Saint-Étienne-sous-BailleulCarla comes across a first delivery vehicle on the small roads in the area. She manages to avoid him and continues on her way.
When she arrives rue des Grouettesa second delivery driver arrives with his truck from the village. The white utility vehicle, without any distinctive sign, then struck Carla's Golf on the left side. “Luckily I was driving on the side of the embankment, otherwise we would have ended up in the ditch,” says the shocked driver.
Complaint and call for witnesses
“The worst part is that he didn't even stop to see if everything was okay on our side. He left as if nothing had happened,” complains Carla. Although no one was injured in the incident, the young woman, currently on parental leave, must still deal with significant material damage. “The left wheel was badly damaged. A mechanic gave me a quote, it cost €3,000,” explains the mother.
The one who had her car insured by a third party hopes to find the driver in order to be able to make a report. “Otherwise, the entire amount will be mine and I can’t afford it. This is why I am launching a call for witnesses for the people who received deliveries that Tuesday, at the beginning of the afternoon”, indicates Carla who also filed a complaint with the Gaillon gendarmerie for damage to vehicle.
The mother also wants to warn about the “risky driving” of delivery drivers before the holidays. “With Christmas gifts, we are going to have a lot of delivery people on our roads which are very narrow. You will have to be careful,” she warns.
