Agricultural crisis: new snail operations and field fires in Drôme-Ardèche Monday November 18

The FNSEA, the majority farmers' union, promises a big day of mobilization this Monday. Cereal growers, arborists, wine growers and breeders want to maintain pressure on the government, ten months after the January blockades. In Drôme and Ardèche, actions have already started since October 15, with municipal signs exchanged or removed. Behind the entrances to the Ardèche prefecture have been walled up, a radar deposited with the Drôme administration, a first snail operation in Tain-l’Hermitage or even the denunciation of unfair competition in a supermarket in Villeneuve-de-Berg. This Monday, the actions will intensify, the tractors will again come out on the roads, but not on the main roads, such as the national 7, the A7 motorway or the Lacra.

Snail operations or filter dams on the Rhône bridges

On the Ardèche side, the FDSEA and Young Farmers (JA) unions have planned snail operations or filter dams on four strategic points of the department, particularly in the Rhône Valley:

  • on the bridge between Sarras and Saint-Vallier,
  • on the Lônes bridgebetween Soyons (at Guilherand-Granges) and ,
  • and on the bridge between Le Pouzin and Loriol.
  • Finally, another mobilization is planned on the national 102, between the La Fayette car park in Lesperon and Pradelles, on the border between Ardèche and Haute-.

Field fires in Drôme

The rallies are scheduled for 2 p.m.. Farmers would also like to light fires there. “The Fires of Wrath” for the FDSEA. The JA prefer to “keep the government’s feet warm, [pour] remember that there are promises pending.” In Drôme, the JA union will put boots in front of these fires countryside. Around seven ignition points are planned in the department, in the sectors of:

  • the Galaure,
  • of Vercors,
  • from Tain-l’Hermitage,
  • from Chabeuil,
  • by Crest,
  • of Diois,
  • or even Grignan.

Full lights are expected at 7:45 p.m.. This Monday, these are visibility actions but the unions of Drôme and Ardèche promise new punchy and sporadic actions to come, to maintain their mobilization over time. They are ready to continue the movement at least until the end of the year, they say.
