Farmers are relaunching their mobilization on Monday with actions planned until December.
New mobilization of farmers from Monday. Actions planned in Hérault and Gard
Nearly a year after a historic mobilization, farmers are returning to demonstrations. This Monday, November 18, the FDSEA and Young Farmers (JA) are calling for a new series of actions to denounce bureaucracy and insufficient income in the agricultural sector.
A demonstration in Montpellier
In Montpellier, a demonstration is organized from 11 a.m. in front of the prefecture of Hérault. The farmers, gathered under the banners of the FDSEA and the JA (Young Farmers), then plan to head towards the Place de la Comédie and the Esplanade de l'Europe. The objective is clear: to challenge public authorities on the urgency of concrete measures for the agricultural world.
The unions' demands mainly relate to the consequences of signing the Mercosur free trade treaty, which facilitates the importation of agricultural products that do not meet French standards.
Punchy actions in Gard
In Gard, actions also begin this Monday with an operation called “Chouette”, planned for the evening. If no motorway blockages are on the agenda, impactful initiatives are being considered. The unions cast doubt on the targets, citing state organizations and potentially large stores and their logistics platforms.
Return of the tarpaulins to the panels
As in previous mobilizations, the covering of road signs and roundabouts could be part of the emblematic actions.
The unions announce that these demonstrations, which could last until the end of December, aim to maintain pressure on the authorities to obtain rapid answers. This anger that has been going on for several months once again shows the distress of the agricultural world in the face of political and commercial decisions deemed unfair. The next few days will be decisive in measuring the extent of this new mobilization.
