Convoys of tractors, “fires of anger”, filter blockages… The world of farmers is planning, once again, a day of national mobilization to express their anger, starting this Monday, November 18, 2024. Certain actions on the road will take place from this Sunday afternoon, like the one planned on the RN118 in .

Less than a year after a wave of anger in the countryside, which resulted in January 2024 in blockages of sections of highways in the country, the National Federation of Farmers' Unions (FNSEA) and its ally Young Farmers ( JA) have chosen to relaunch the movement. They are particularly committed against the free trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur, which the European Commission hopes to sign before the end of the year. And the date is not chosen by chance: the objective is to make people hear “the voice of at the time of the G20 summit which opens in Rio, Brazil this Monday.

Multiple actions depending on the territories

The actions baptized “Fires of Wrath” are announced by numerous local branches of the FNSEA. As its name suggests, the lighting of fires is planned at these assembly points. This would be the case on Monday evening in (Côte-d'Or), in (), in (Tarn-et-Garonne) or even in (Aveyron).

The meeting places are in particular in front of the prefectures or on the roundabouts called “roundabouts of Europe. »

Using information reported by the local press, we have identified around 80 farmer mobilizations planned for this Monday and Tuesday. Other forms of mobilization are also chosen: filter blockages are planned, such as in Nîmes () and Sablons (Isère), or even snail operations. In , the secretary of the Young Farmers of Deux-Sèvres (JA79) announced a snail operation with “80 tractors” for this Monday, according to the newspaper New Republic .

In , farmers met Monday at 10 a.m. with the department's parliamentarians in the Confluence district to make their demands heard. In Savoie and Haute-Savoie, “no hard and strong blocking” but actions “punctual” to inform the public of the situation of farmers in the area, according to our colleagues from France Bleu Pays de Savoie.

Mobilizations on Tuesday for Rural Coordination

Rural Coordination, the second agricultural union in the country which gained visibility with striking actions last year, is calling for mobilization in certain sectors from Tuesday. This is the case in (Gers), and also in Guéret (Creuse). In Calvados, the Rural Coordination will bring together its troops on Tuesday and decide what action to take. “We will go to the prefectures on November 19 to reiterate our demands”announced Friday the president of Rural Coordination, Véronique Le Floc'h, toWest France . “If our requests remain unanswered, from November 20, we will block food freight. Mobilizations remain limited in these regions

However, actions remain limited in certain territories. In Morbihan, no blockage is planned according to the information we have to date.

In Ille-et-Vilaine, for the moment, nothing is yet planned in the country of Fougères, where angry farmers blocked the A84 last January. Actions seem to be taking shape in the country of Vitré even if this remains unclear for the moment, according to information from our local editorial staff. During the last mobilizations, the movement started after a few days.
