Snow, strong wind… Belgium facing winter conditions in the coming days

Lhe weather will alternate on Sunday afternoon generally between clouds and clearings, indicates the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) in its midday forecast. In the extreme south, however, cloudiness will remain more abundant. A few showers will remain possible over the south-eastern half of the country.

The maxima will be between 4 or 5 degrees in the Ardennes heights and 9 or 10 degrees in the west of the country.

The wind will be moderate from the west. At sea, it will be quite strong from west to northwest with gusts of 50 km/h.

Sunday evening, the weather will be dry with clearings in most regions. The cloudiness will then increase rapidly from the coast with the return of showers. During the night, periods of rain or showers will follow one another. In the Hautes-Fagnes, precipitation may sometimes take on a wintry character.

The minimums will vary between 1 or 2 degrees in Hautes-Fagnes and 8 degrees on the coast. The wind will be moderate.

Monday will start the day with very cloudy weather with periods of rain. In Flanders, the weather will quickly become dry with sunny spells at times. In the southeast half, however, the weather will remain cloudy and rainy. The maxima will range between 4 or 5 degrees in the Ardennes and 8 or 9 degrees in the center and at the sea.

On Monday evening, cloud cover will increase again over Flanders. The following night, an area of ​​rain will cross the territory from the southwest with the arrival of a milder air mass. The maxima reached in the evening with values ​​between 2 or 3 degrees in the Ardennes and 5 or 6 degrees in most other regions will subsequently rise to around 6 or 7 degrees in the Ardennes and 10 or 11 degrees in the plains.

Snow from Wednesday

On Wednesday, the weather will initially be variable with alternating clearings and showers which could also take on a wintry character in the plains. In the Ardennes, precipitation will be in the form of snow. The maxima will be between 1 degree in Ardennes, 4 degrees in the center and 6 degrees at sea.

Thursday, sometimes large clearings will share the sky with cloudy periods sometimes giving a few showers of slush. Temperatures will remain around 1 degree in the Ardennes, 4 degrees in the center and 6 degrees at the sea.

On Friday, we will initially maintain variable weather with a few wintry showers. In the afternoon, wider clearings will return with dry weather. The maxima will be between 0 and 6 degrees. The wind will remain moderate to fairly strong, from the west inland and from the northwest at sea.
