In Val-de-Marne, a man killed by a police officer after “threatening” officers

A man “very alcoholic” and carrying a “weapon”fake according to the first elements of the investigation, was killed by a police officer after having ” threat “ agents, Sunday November 17 in the morning, in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (Val-de-Marne), police sources and the Créteil prosecutor's office told Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Around 6 a.m., police were called to an armed man who “drummed” on the door of a home, explained one of these sources. The man threatened the police officers who arrived on scene “pointing a handgun and shouting “Allah akbar””she added. According to the first elements, the victim's weapon “was fake”a source close to the matter told AFP.

A police officer then “uses his weapon” and hit the man, who died despite the intervention of emergency services, explained the first source. According to another police source, the agent fired three times. The man was shot once.

The man, aged 30, was known for acts of “apology of terrorism” in 2019 according to police sources, but was not on S file. He was “very alcoholic” at the time of the events, announced a source close to the matter.

The General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) was contacted, as is the case every time a police officer uses his weapon. According to another source close to the case, a pedestrian camera (used by the police) filmed all of the events. The police officer responsible for the shooting tested negative for drugs and alcohol, this source added. In 2022, 38 people died following police action, including 22 following a shooting, according to the latest available report from the IGPN.
