The spectators raised their voices as soon as the Japanese and Uruguayan rugby players entered. Smiles in the stands, under a bright sun and a blue sky, enough to make us forget the cold of November 16. Sandrine came from Aix-les-Bains with her whole family: “We're enjoying it to the fullest, it's a real joy, these matches are extraordinary, just magical“. Virginie and Guy arrive with SOC rugby jackets and Savoyard berets: “We think it's great, the children who play at SOC were able to see the Tonga players last Wednesday, it's really fantastic.” Laura, their nine-year-old daughter, confirms: “I found the players very strong, very impressive, I’m so happy.” Fred arrives from and can't believe seeing a haka on the Chambéry lawn: “it’s the best, it’s magnificent to see, we come for that too.”

In the public, there are many Savoyards, Haut-Savoyards, Auvergnats, Lyonnais and even Japanese like Inada who appreciates this Chambéry Savoie Stadium: ““It's a very beautiful stadium, very compact, it's rare to see it up close during international matches, it's really good, I love this place.” A packed stadium also makes the eyes of Philippe Pierdomenico, co-president of SOC Rugby, shine: “it is a real pride to be able to fill this stadium, that an entire Savoyard people benefits from very rare international matches and it is also an economic dimension of course, the costs have increased greatly with this new much larger stadium, to make everything profitable That means you have to make good recipes, matches like today, it’s a lot of joy.” The Chambéry town hall also hopes to organize concerts next year in this brand new stadium.
