A new shooting broke out on Friday evening, November 15, on Place Saint-Bruno in Grenoble, known to be one of the city's main drug trafficking points. Several residents alerted the police shortly after 8:15 p.m., after hearing explosions in the neighborhood, indicated the Grenoble public prosecutor's office this Saturday, November 16, confirming information from the Dauphiné Libéré.
The shots were exchanged “between several individuals aboard a car and a two-wheeler”according to the deputy prosecutor, François Touret de Coucy. The police quickly went to the scene Friday evening, noting the presence on the ground “16 cases of 9 mm caliber ammunition”opposite 4, place Saint-Bruno.
“Impacts were also noted on the window of a residential apartment located on the first floor”continues Mr. Touret de Coucy. The police did not find any victims or traces of blood at the scene after the findings carried out by forensic identification. “The circumstances of these shootings are (not) known”adds the prosecution.
For several weeks, Place Saint-Bruno, the hub of Grenoble's drug trafficking, has been the scene of score-settling and attempts at intimidation between gangs. This shooting comes after shots were fired the day before in the same square. UAn individual armed with a small katana-type sword was quickly arrested.
The police also discovered a sawed-off shotgun hidden behind a low wall, a knife, a tear gas canister and three unfired 12 caliber cartridges nearby. Placed in police custody, the suspect should be presented to the prosecution on Saturday with a view to an immediate appearance on Monday before the criminal court, according to The Dauphiné Libéré.
On Wednesday, around twenty masked people dressed in black appeared on Place Saint-Bruno. Some were carrying bladed weapons while one of them, equipped with a handgun, fired twice into the air without causing any injuries. The police arrested and then took into custody a 15-year-old boy carrying a machete. The minor, who admitted to having held the firearm, will soon be summoned before a children's judge, confirms the prosecution.
Since the start of the year, the metropolis of Grenoble has experienced renewed tensions, with the judicial authorities no longer hesitating to speak of “gang war”. According to the prosecution, around fifty shootings have occurred since the start of the year in the Grenoble metropolis, including around twenty acts of violence linked to drug trafficking.
