For a reason that remains to be determined, the driver of a car strayed from his lane and hit a truck that was traveling in the opposite direction. The car then hit an embankment and ended up on its roof after rolling several times.
Aged 46 and originally from Val Thorens, the driver of the car was seriously injured in the head and airlifted by Choucas 73, the helicopter of the air detachment of the Modane gendarmerie, to the Grenoble University Hospital. This Saturday evening, his vital prognosis was not in jeopardy.
Present in the vehicle, a 7-year-old child was slightly injured and transported by firefighters to the Albertville hospital center. The driver of the truck, shocked, was only slightly injured.
Traffic was interrupted for several minutes while emergency services intervened.
