. Fewer licensees in Mayenne despite the titles of Ethan Vallée and Alan Mareau.

Mayenne , like cycling, is experiencing a drop in attendance. “It is not significant, but light”specifies Christian Douet, president of the Mayenne committee. A drop in particular among young people licensed in the department's clubs. “Society is changing, with young people turning less towards sports associations. There is also the cost of the practice which can be a barrier”explains the one who was elected president of the committee in January 2022.

If the committee tries to remove its brakes, “with the loan of a track or time trial bike”the leaders of Mayenne cycling want to make their discipline accessible. “We invest so as not to impose too many costs on families”specifies the chairman of the committee.

However, the events continue to progress with 185 organizations in the region in 2024, and the results of the Mayenne cyclists are there. “We obtained several regional titles in U15, U17 and U23,” he recalls.
