Trump’s election sows concern in Quebec

The concern is undeniable. Nearly three-quarters of respondents (71%) say they fear the impact that Donald Trump’s victory will have on Canada. Only 13% of respondents say they are indifferent to the outcome of the presidential election while 13% say they are confident that the impact will be positive.

Torn on the best leader against Trump

Only 7% of Quebecers set their sights on Jagmeet Singh and 33% of respondents say they do not know or do not want to answer this question.

Quebecers would have elected Harris

Trump affects the image of the United States

Donald Trump’s return to power affects Quebecers’ perception of the United States. According to the survey, a little more than half of Quebecers now say they have a negative opinion of the world’s leading power. Only 12% say their opinion of the United States is more positive today than before November 5, while 29% say their opinion remains the same.

Fewer trips to the United States?

Will Quebecers change their travel habits in the United States following the results of the presidential election? Yes, say 29% of respondents. An equally large proportion of respondents (31%) say no or say they never travel to the United States (31%).

Methodology

The study was carried out online from November 8 to 11, 2024 with a sample of 1,176 Quebec adults registered with the SOM internet users panel.
