“Since September 30, I have had to take two buses to reach the town center of Poissy (Yvelines). Instead of taking ten minutes as was the case with line 5, I put 30.”
To say 85-year-old Nicole Macherez is upset is an understatement. For more than a month, no bus from lines 5 and 57 does not circulate on rue Maryse-Bastié, where she lives.
Extension of the tramway
Nine stops are no longer servedwhile four new ones have been added. “Why not make new stops,” agrees the octogenarian from the La Bruyère district. But there are no bus shelters or anywhere to sit. »
Nicole Macherez is just one resident among many others in the area who are collateral victims of the work of the tramway T13. This project aims to extend the route of this tram from Saint-Germain-en-Laye to Achères.
Three simultaneous work zones
For the moment, we are talking about concessionary works. “We must move all the networks (gas, electricity, fiber optics, water, etc.) which were located underground in the areas concerned,” explains Marc Lartigau, municipal councilor responsible for the Tramway, the Municipal Traffic Plan and Parking.
“It is necessary that there be no network under the tramway rolling platform for reasons of vibration and maintenance. »
Several works of this type are underway in the city center, around Avenue de Versailles and Boulevard Gambetta (currently closed in the Saint-Germain direction towards Carrières-sous-Poissy). They concern rue de La Bruyère (closed), between rue Fernand-Lefebvre and avenue de Versailles (possibly until the end of 2025), rue Charles-Maréchal (closed), towards Carrières-sous-Poissy, and rue Adrienne-Bolland (under construction), near Clos Saint-Exupéry.
“It’s a hassle” on the road
In addition to transport problems, traffic around these axes is becoming more and more saturated. “I use my car to take my wife to the doctors in the city center and it’s a hassle,” confides Jacques, a retiree. We have to rack our brains before leaving, we have to take detours and use cross streets. Parking has also become insufficient. »
“In the morning and evening, it takes an hour to cross Poissy. In addition, the blocked roads change every time. »
Nuisances beyond Poissy
The work also impacts residents of surrounding towns who must pass through the municipality. Nordine, who works fifteen kilometers from Poissyhas decided for several months to use transport more.
“I have to drop my son off at daycare in the city center. If I take the car, it takes longer. »
THE noise pollution rush hour is also a problem for Arthur, a resident of Gambetta Boulevard. “People are getting angry, people are honking. Even the quiet little streets around are completely clogged,” he is surprised.
“Without that, a 300% increase in traffic in 2024”
To these critics, Marc Lartigau has only one thing to say: “ Patience. We made a decision and we accept it. We must think of future generations. Without this tram, there would have been a 300% increase in traffic in the city in 2040.”
“It’s a revolution. We are thinking about the city of tomorrow. »
Arthur, who owns a business in the city center, admits the long-term benefit. ” It is evil for good. Connecting Saint-Germain and Poissy in ten minutes will be good,” he agrees.
“Inform residents”
The municipality, well aware of the difficulties caused by the work, is relying on extensive information to try to reduce the inconvenience as much as possible. “60% of traffic in the city during rush hours is due to residents of surrounding towns,” points out Marc Lartigau. We have reinforced signage to warn them not to cross Poissy. We recommend a detour via the departmental road which joins Villennes-sur-Seine or the N184. »
As for transport, posters have been posted at the various bus stops concerned. “We will use all channels: Île-de-France Mobilités, the City's website, where a page is dedicated to work in progress (updated every week), the distribution of leaflets in mailboxes and, of course, our social networks”, we insist from the City side. All “well in advance, every time”, we promise.
However, many Pisciacais still seem lost. “The works are hardly readable . They impacted me from the summer. It ended and here it starts again. I have trouble keeping up,” Jacques judges again.
Marc Lartigau has an answer: calendar managementand coordination of the work are managed by Île-de-France Mobilités.
What program for the future?
The concession work will last until June 2025. In Boulevard Gambetta, until December 2024, the area concerned is that between Boulevards Devaux and Boulevard de la Paix. From December to March, the site will be transported between avenue du Maréchal-Foch and rue Charles-Maréchal.
Of the January 2025it will be the turn of the Europe roundabout. It will be completely redeveloped. The work will last until April 2025. The operations at rue de la Bruyère will intensify over the course of 2025. The aim is to divert the networks without cutting avenue de la Bruyère. Versailles.
There will also be major work to dismantling of the two bridges. “Everything is under control. It's planned. For more than a year,” says Marc Lartigau confidently.
