The members of the collective write that they “went there to obtain documents and details”, but do not plan to file a complaint.
Requested by “Sud Ouest”, RTE, which is leading the electricity interconnection project between France and Spain, says it is in compliance: “At this stage, we have reminded the people concerned of the framework in which our work is taking place. RTE has all the authorizations and agreements allowing it to carry out this work. »
Legal consequences?
“After this reminder of the framework and the rights and responsibilities of each person, in the conditions where the blocking of this work is illegitimate, if it were to recur, RTE reserves the right to refer the matter to the competent judicial authorities”, informs the body.
The Bay of Biscay electrical interconnection project, otherwise known in Landes as the THT (Very High Voltage) line, will connect France to Spain, making it possible to “strengthen security of supply by sharing more carbon-free electricity,” highlights RTE.
It is not the interconnection that electrifies the opponents, but its terrestrial route. While the project launched in 2017 is intended to be an underwater connection over 400 kilometers between the stations of Cubnezais (near Bordeaux) and Gatika (near Bilbao), the engineers encountered a technical impossibility when crossing the Gouf de Capbreton, hence the land diversion of the project over 27 kilometers in the south of Landes, in the Maremne Adour South Coast territory, between the municipalities of Capbreton and Seignosse.
