Rebel MP Andy Kerbrat allegedly used his office fees to buy drugs

Thursday October 17, 2024, Andy Kerbrat, LFI deputy of the 2nd constituency of -Atlantiquewas caught in the metro trying to buy drugs, “1.35 g of 3-MMC”, from a minor.

The 39-year-old elected official admitted the facts and followed the police officers to the police station. According to information from Current valueswho revealed the information, he had to pay a fine of 1,000 euros. The MP then announced that he wanted to commit to “a care protocol”.

But this Friday, November 15, about a month after his arrest, Médiapart reveals a new twist in the affair. The LFI deputy would have used his AFM account (advance of mandate fees), to buy drugs. This account is funded by 5,950 euros gross each month by the National Assembly to cover the expenses of elected officials, i.e. approximately 4,700 euros net.

25,000 euros transferred to his personal account

According to the investigative media, Andy Kerbrat allegedly transferred 25,000 euros from his AFM account to his personal account. A sum that he claims to have repaid thanks to “family assistance”.

He explains that he “did anything” and admits to having taken this money for personal purposes although he denies having used it to buy drugs.

Médiapart indicates having identified several “frantic withdrawals” in the middle of the night and significant expenses to the point that the elected official reached “a negative balance of 8,000 euros in August 2023.

“Come out of the secret”

Near MédiapartAndy Kerbrat assured that he wanted to participate in their investigation to “get out of the secrecy” in which he locked himself and recounts having gone from one-off consumption to an “addictive practice”, “like many gays in [s] a generation.”

In a press release published on October 22, the Insoumis had apologized and explained his drug consumption.

“Faced with personal problems and psychological fragilities, I was able to consume synthetic drugs and am fully aware of their effects on my health and on my own,” he wrote. “I will fight against this addiction. »
