As the Mercosur treaty returns to the news, particularly in the context of farmers’ anger, the president is heading towards Latin America. Emmanuel Macron will travel to Buenos Aires in Argentina this weekend where he will speak with his counterpart Javier Milei. The objective in Argentina is to strengthen links in strategic sectors with this historic partner of France.
This trip precedes the visit of the President of the Republic to Brazil as part of the G20 scheduled for November 18 and 19. After the event, the Head of State will travel to Chile to meet his counterpart Gabriel Boric on the subject of multilateralism, the energy transition, artificial intelligence and cultural and academic exchanges.
2 – Legislative elections in Senegal
Following the dissolution of the Senegalese National Assembly last September by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the legislative elections will take place this Sunday, November 17 in Senegal. In the running in particular, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko close to Jean-Luc Mélenchon and from the Pastef party, former president Macky Sall of the opposition coalition and Bougane Guèye, member of a small party member of a coalition of opposition. During this virulent campaign but without major incident, current Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko notably expressed his desire to bring former President Macky Sall to court for corruption.
3 – France New Zealand rugby match at the Stade de France

The French XV will face New Zealand this Saturday, November 16 at 9:10 p.m. at the Stade de France as part of the Autumn Nations Series. The match will be broadcast live on TF1. Last year during the 2023 World Cup, the Blues won against New Zealand 27-13. Fabien Galthié’s team started its fall tour very well with a victory against Japan 52-12. For their part, the All Blacks won against England and Ireland.

The 73rd edition of the Miss Universe pageant will take place this Saturday, November 16 in Mexico City, Mexico. It has been 17 years since the competition was held in this Central American country. 130 candidates are in the running.

In 2023, Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios won the famous beauty contest. France will be represented by Miss France 2023 Indira Ampiot. Two other French women will wear the colors of their region, Martinique for Catherine Édouard, and Guadeloupe for Coraly Desplan.
5 – The Good News of the day
The statue of the Virgin and Child representing Mary holding the Child Jesus, is making its comeback this Friday, November 15 at Notre-Dame de Paris. After the devastating fire in the cathedral which nevertheless did not affect the work, the statue was transferred to the Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois church in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.
It will be returned this evening after a short truck trip to preserve it. A procession is planned this evening between the two sites around a replica of the statue.
