The Malagasy painter Airjp Tagman is preparing to amaze the Reunion public with two unique exhibitions. Inspired by his native land, he will present unique works celebrating Malagasy culture, from Saint-Denis to Saint-Leu, from November 2023 to February 2025.
First meeting in Saint-Denis
Airjp Tagman, known for his works marked by a vibrant and unique style, captivated spectators at the Run Colorz Festival with his work “Strike in Madagascar, yellow cans all over the city”, an allusion to the water shortage in Antananarivo. His new series, entitled “ABCd’AIR”, will be unveiled this evening during the opening of a group exhibition in Saint-Denis.
Collective exhibition at Nanas Vanille
From November 15 to February 20, Airjp Tagman exhibits at the Nanas Vanille boutique in Saint-Denis alongside two other artists, Abeil and Les petits bafouilles. To celebrate the store's four years, he will present creations where each letter represents a symbol of Malagasy culture. “ABCd'AIR, I choose a letter in French and I illustrate or tell stories that talk about Malagasy culture,” he explains.
Solo exhibition in Saint-Leu
From December 14, Airjp Tagman will unveil a solo exhibition entitled “Gardien Botanique” at the Mascarin Jardin Botanique in Saint-Leu. Inspired by local vegetation, this series includes ten original works on sale and presented until January 29.
A unique artistic vision
For 20 years, Airjp Tagman has used art to tell the story of Madagascar. “My approach consists of not limiting myself to a single style,” he confides. Born in the Tsarasaotra countryside, this passionate artist draws his first inspirations from earth and stone, before starting with graffiti in 2004.
Through its exhibitions, Airjp Tagman continues to represent Malagasy culture and promote Madagascar. These meetings in Reunion mark a new accomplishment for this passionate artist.
