Haute-Savoie: police barely save a woman from suicide at the Etrembières bridge

Police officers from the police station saved a woman from suicide at the last minute this Thursday evening. The story begins in , in Yonne. A woman presents herself around 9:15 p.m. at the Auxerre police station: she has just received a message from her sister who lives in Annemasse. “She told me she was going to commit suicide by throwing herself off a bridge, without further details, and was calling me to say goodbye,” she explains.

She sees the police and tries to throw herself into the void

The Auxerre police officers immediately alerted their Annemasse colleagues. The BAC goes without delay to the Pont d'Etrembières which overlooks the Arve and the motorway, “possible place of his disastrous gesture”, says the police. On their arrival, the Haut-Savoyard police officers immediately noticed a person matching the description sent by the sister.

When she saw the police, this 32-year-old woman, determined to end her life, tried to reach the railings of the bridge and then was hit by cars without succeeding. She then tries to throw herself off the bridge. The police manage to control her at the last minute by pinning her to the ground. The victim explains having “family problems” and that she “wants to end it”. She was taken by firefighters to the Alpes Léman hospital center (CHAL).
