“In such situations, it is better not to live on the 12th floor,” says a volunteer
Now a regular volunteer with Secours catholique de Brioude, Pascale describes her journey with a trembling voice: “My husband and I were self-employed. When he fell ill, we had to stop our activity. Several months followed without income. We had no choice but to sell our car. »
Indeed, putting together RSA application files requires time, but above all paperwork. “Impossible to provide to the administration, the request process was complicated,” adds Pascale.
“Under the pretext of an inspection, I no longer received my pension”
But it’s not over, a few years later, after finding a job, “my husband died. I then fell into depression, I lost everything again: it was difficult again. Little by little, I got over it. And, at 62, the time came to retire,” recalls the sixty-year-old.
“At the start, everything was going well, I had planned everything regarding the requests…” But after eight months, the tragedy: “Under the pretext of an inspection, I no longer received my pension. »
A few months later, the retiree's rights were restored, “still without explanation”, but the trauma remains. “Sometimes, I tell myself that in such situations, it’s better not to live on the 12th floor… Dark thoughts come very quickly. »
