Two programs from the CNews channel were subject to fines of 100,000 and 50,000 euros due to several breaches, revealed Arcom, the audiovisual regulator, Thursday November 14. This announcement comes as C8, another channel belonging to ultraconservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré, is preparing to challenge Arcom's decision to oust it from TNT at the end of February 2025 before the Council of State on Friday.

The first sanction of 100,000 euros concerns the program “En quest d’esprit” on February 25, 2024. In this program, abortion was described as “leading cause of death in the world”. Faced with the outcry caused, the channel apologized. Arcom estimated that “abortion cannot be presented as a cause of mortality” and therefore pointed out a “manifest inaccuracy” Who “was not the subject of any contradiction from the other people present on set”.

The second fine of 50,000 euros is linked to the “Morandini Live” broadcast of September 28, 2023. A subject was introduced in these terms: “Parents of Muslim students put pressure on the management of a college in to provide prayer rooms for students during a school trip to the Pyrenees”. Arcom has established that the “facts in question, which turned out to be inaccurate, had not been the subject of sufficient verification and did not give rise to oratorical precautions”.
