The Île-de-France regional council is expanding its forestry domain by formalizing this Wednesday, November 13, the acquisition of 110 hectares of Piple woods, one of the last large private forests in Val-de-Marne.
A private forest of 110 hectares soon accessible to the inhabitants of Val-de-Marne and the surrounding area. The Île-de-France regional council formalized this Wednesday, November 13, the acquisition for an amount of 2.5 million euros of the Piple woods, located between Sucy-en-Brie and Boissy-Saint-Léger.
After work “creating pathways, developing entrances, signage, ecological management, restoration and maintenance of hydraulic structures and ponds as well as the renovation of the built heritage”, costed at half a million d euros, the park should open by 2026. The towns of Boissy-Saint-Léger and Sucy-en-Brie will cover the maintenance and surveillance costs of the area to the tune of 50,000 euros per year.
An RER A station 400m away
For three years, the Val-de-Marnais have already been able to benefit from the Saint-Martin woods, straddling the towns of Plessis-Trévise, Villiers-sur-Marne and Noisy-le-Grand after its acquisition by the region.
Bois du Piple will be accessible by the Boissy-Saint-Léger RER A station (400m) and by seven bus stations. The region estimates the population area close to the wooded area at 300,000 inhabitants.
“This acquisition is in line with the objectives of the Green Plan of the Île-de-France region which aims to make accessible 1,500 hectares of additional nature by 2030 and which has already made it possible to offer nearly 1,000 hectares of green spaces and wooded areas open to the public since 2017″, justifies the community in a press release.
