Confirmed at RTL information this Thursday morning by the ACL, the information was certified by the Administration of Bridges and Roads. A construction site is about to start on the A6 between the Mamer/Capellen interchange and the Cappellen areain both directions. The installation of the signage is underway this Thursday and “construction will start this Friday“, assures the Bridges and Roads. This work will last until the month of May 2026.
“This is the rehabilitation of the motorway bridge above the CFL line -with waterproofing, repair, concrete work, new supports, etc. – but also bridge widening with a view to a possible change from 2×2 to 2×3 lanes of the A6, like the other motorways in the country, in the future“, explains Ralph di Marco, spokesperson for Bridges and Roads.
This Thursday, the speed will be limited to 70 km/h (instead of 130 km) on this portion d’environ 2 km from the A6 between the Mamer exit and the Aire de Capellen in the direction of Arlon. And from Friday, in the opposite direction.
The lanes have also been narrowed, as required by construction site regulations, but A6 traffic will be able to always pass on both lanes in both directions. Except in the context of works where an additional lane must be cut (punctual blockages during a weekend or during the night).
Which means that on this 2 km section, there will be a slowdown in both directions of traffic from this Friday.
“But this will not necessarily impact traffic during rush hours when the speed is already slowed down and sometimes smoother than before the works, as we were able to measure on the A3“, notes the spokesperson for Bridges and Roads.
