the squat of the bowling alley evacuated, four people arrested

A gendarme was also injured during the evacuation of the squat. The judicial court ordered the eviction of the occupants this Wednesday, November 13.

Evacuation under tension. The squatters of the former bar-restaurant of the Champ-de-Mars bowling alley in Briançon were evacuated this Thursday, November 14 in the early evening, shortly after 6 p.m., by around thirty police officers from Gap and Briançon including CRS. The national gendarmerie was also called, a BFM DICI journalist observed on site. A police officer was injured during the operation.

Around twenty occupants were pushed back and four people were arrested. Batons and tear gas were used by law enforcement during the evacuation.

Far-left activists have occupied the place which belongs to the Amicale boule briançonnaise since the beginning of October. The Gap judicial court ordered the eviction of the occupants this Wednesday, November 13.

The town hall “welcomes” the judgment

In the deliberations that BFM DICI was able to consult, the judge orders the expulsion of four designated occupants as well as any other occupant, with the assistance of the public force and all appropriate means.

The municipality continually demanded eviction from the site. Initially, the summary judge of the administrative court of declared himself incompetent to rule on this dispute. The city of Briançon therefore turned to the judicial court which therefore recorded the expulsion.

“The judicial court has just ordered the immediate eviction of the Boulodrome squat, which everyone knew had nothing to do with the right to housing and everything to do with the most radical activism. I welcome this: force remains within the law”, declared Wednesday afternoon Arnaud Murgia, the mayor of Briançon.

On October 29, contacted by BFM DICI, the leaders of the Boule briançonnaise association also spoke of their determination. They claimed that inside there was still 25,000 euros worth of equipment, including a fully equipped kitchen.
