The Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau is traveling to Metz this Friday, November 15. The reason for this visit has not yet been clearly announced. In any case, the opposition group United for Metz has already expressed its discontent, calling for a boycott.
“Before the arrival of Bruno Retailleau, very right-wing Minister of the Interior in the Barnier government, we would like to recall the humanist tradition of the City of Metz which has always contributed to the reception of refugees and their integration. » For the members of the United group: “The minister, close to Philippe de Villiers, went beyond the Republican framework, on several occasions, speaking of paper French people”, of young people “regressing towards ethnic origins” in 2023. More recently , by not recognizing the intangibility of the rule of law, by denying the universality of the rights of each and everyone, the minister clearly adopts positions identical to those of the French extreme right. »
Jérémy Roques, president of the United group, therefore calls on “all elected republicans, and first of all the mayor of Metz, to boycott the trip and the new communication operation of a minister who dishonors humanism of our city by his coming.”
