Since October 7, 2024, the Morbihan Food Bank has owned the former La Margelle production building, located rue Denis-Papin in the Poteau business zone in Saint-Avé (Morbihan), a company which closed its doors last June. “We are going to undertake a major renovation there in order to move our activities there,” notes Franck Gaillard, president of the Morbihan Food Bank.
The latter operates as a logistics company, managing supplies, storage, sorting, order preparation, distribution with administrative support and convivial spaces.

The investment amounts to 1 million euros, of which €400,000 is financed with equity, the rest through borrowing. In addition, 1.5 million euros of renovation work will be undertaken in the 2,000 m² building located on 5,000 m² of land. “We hope to move there in the fall of 2026. For the cost of the work, we are looking for financing partners. We need to reorganize to accommodate dry product logistics, install storage racks, positive and negative cold rooms…”
A shared kitchen
The Morbihan Food Bank is now the tenant of its premises, located rue Duténos-Le-Verger, Prat area. This move will allow it, in addition to perpetuating its financial management, to create a shared professional kitchen (Red Cross, We want the sun, etc.) of 160 m², including a processing, packaging and educational workshop. “This kitchen will be a wonderful factory to restore the taste for “eating better” by offering good products prepared with care by people in integration, to our partners,” says Franck Gaillard.
In short, this new tool will be an opportunity to increase the quantity of products and diversify the diet; to fight against food waste; to be part of a territorial approach, and to help people find their way back to employment.
