funds to finance supportive care for cancer patients

Discuss the theme of breast cancer, get involved, talk about it and get informed. This is what was made possible, once again, by the pink evening organized this Wednesday by the City of Pontarlier. Beyond the presentation of a check for 22,096 euros, representing the money collected during the various actions carried out during the month of October, the event also allowed the intervention of Quentin Jacquinot. This person responsible for the development of APA (adapted physical activity) and research in supportive oncological care supports patients on a daily basis as part of his employment at the Franche-Comté Regional Federal Cancer Institute.

2,762 euros per association

“The objective is to be able to identify their problems from a physical point of view and to offer appropriate support by directing them towards partner structures via the various physical activity workshops that we have set up” , highlights Quentin Jacquinot.

It is also responsible for developing associative partnerships, a large part of supportive care being currently financed by patient associations. Eight of them were able to benefit from part of the amount collected on the occasion of Pink October in Pontarlier, i.e. 2,762 euros for each of them.

135 hours of adapted activity per week

“All these sums, which are allocated to them, make it possible to finance the appropriate activity. We have approximately 135 hours per week which are offered free of charge to our Franche-Comté patients, whether in hospital or outside,” emphasizes Quentin Jacquinot.

“These sessions are free because it is the associations which finance the professionals who intervene, in the case where they are not employees of the establishments. » Beyond supporting patients and looking for financing methods, this doctor in exercise physiology also does scientific communication at national and international conferences while leading research projects.
