Very involved in the life of his commune in Cotentin, Michel Branthonne has died

The Wednesday November 13, 2024the family and the amis by Michel Branthonne were gathered at church from Treauville (Manche) for say a final goodbye. He was 87 years old.

Michel was the eldest of four children. His brother André and his sisters Thérèse and Cécile were part of this united family. After war and the return from captivity from his father Jean, the family settled in Tréauville, where Michel continued his studies.

A man committed to his community

But it is above all by to live socially that Michel left his mark. Always involved in the life of his commune, he was municipal councilor for 37 years, and during all these years, he put his energy and his time serving residents of Treauville.

He got involved by taking part in important decisions and by going always available for his fellow citizens.

A pillar for associations

He was also treasurer of the veterans association. Michel was also a pillar of festival committee. He has organized events who brought together the inhabitants and brought conviviality in the village.

Son enthusiasm and his festive spirit will remain in memory of those who participated in each of these celebrations in Treauville. Member of the seniors club The Good Welcome, he strengthened bonds between generations.

Always ready to help, he liked to be of service. He demonstratedgreat generosity in giving blood more than a hundred times.

An active retirement

Michel loved people and cultivated meetings. Son sense of community sweated in all its activities. Whether during discussions at the festival committee or in the municipal projectshe always sought to improve everyday life of his entourage.

Even after his retirementMichel remained active. Keeper of the church keyshe watched over its opening and closing every day. He loved going to the Conscience farm or taking care of the ducks at the Sorel Bridge. There he often encountered neighbors to discuss.

Friday morning, Michel left peacefully. The thoughts of those who knew him are with Marie, her children, grandchildren and her entire family. Michel will be remembered as a sincere and warm man.

With humility and dedicationhe leaves a mark on the lives of all those who have crossed his path.
