the essential
Municipal councilor for 2 terms, Freddy Gueudin was, until now, the delegate of the 3rd constituency of LR. He has just resigned from this party to become departmental delegate of the Union of Rights (UDR), the party created by Eric Ciotti following the last legislative elections.
“I would first like to make things clear. I make a real difference between my commitment within a political party and my commitment within the municipal council of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. If my functions change departmental level with this change of party, my desire to work for my fellow citizens within the municipal council remains unchanged” would like to clarify Feddy Gueudin.
This being clearly expressed by the former departmental delegate of the LR of the 3rd district of the department, it did not fail to provoke a reaction from observers of political life and departmental bodies of the LR. Indeed, a press release from the authorities of the Union of Rights (UDR) party, created by Eric Ciotti following the last legislative elections, is explicit. “The Union of Rights for the Republic UDR has appointed Freddy Gueudin as departmental referent for Lot-et-Garonne. Freddy Gueudin will have the mission of structuring and coordinating militant actions within the department, in order to promote the values and UDR projects on the ground.
And to continue “Freddy Gueudin, 54 years old, is a construction executive, Municipal Councilor of his commune. Until today he was delegate of the 3rd constituency of the Republicans of Lot-et-Garonne. Convinced by the line advocated by Éric Ciotti, he is committed with determination to defending the ideas of the Union of Rights for the Republic, advocating a free, independent right attached to national identity and republican authority.
And to conclude, “By setting up its representatives in more than 70 departments, the party is equipping itself with a solid organization to prepare the alternation and carry out an ambitious political project for France.”
A letter sent to local LRs
It is in a letter addressed to his former party colleagues that he explains his position. ” After careful consideration, I am writing to you today to announce my resignation from the Les Républicains party. This decision was not easy to make. I have long shared the values, commitments and struggles of our movement. However, I am convinced that the political project that I wish to carry no longer fully finds its place within this formation. […] I remain deeply committed to values such as social justice, economic freedom, and national sovereignty, but I believe that these principles must be defended with a new vision. This is why I decided to join another political project, a party which, I hope, will be able to better meet the expectations of the French and offer a credible alternative. My commitment remains unchanged: to serve the general interest and contribute to the renewal of our democracy. I would like to thank everyone with whom I have had the pleasure of working and interacting within our movement. The debates, campaigns, and struggles that we waged together will remain a valuable experience.”
A decision which risks causing some internal debates ahead of the next municipal council scheduled for November 25.
